Through the Storm

There are many storms that we face in our lifetime but don’t allow the presence of a storm to indicate the absence of God. There are all types of storms: Financial Storms, Physical Storms, Health Storms, Emotional Storms. There all types of storms we may encounter in our lifetime. Not the physical storms that involve thunder, lightning and rain but the type of storms people can’t see.

The undetectable storms, the kinds that make people think you haven’t been through any type of hardship because you get up every morning and get out the bed, brush your teeth and get ready to start your day. Put on your smile, even though your going through your own secret storm. It’s usually easier to go through a physical storm. Someone will provide a boat, an umbrella or a raincoat, some help or assistance. When you’re going through a secret storm, there’s no comfort because no one understands that you’re going through a secret storm.

Others are jealous of the car your driving, not knowing you’re two payments behind. Envious of the job you have, not knowing you can’t even rest at night because of the pressure and responsibility. You’re in a storm and no one even knows it.

These are the moments you probably wonder, where is God? Job said I looked for him everywhere and couldn’t find God (Job 23). Some think if God is with us, we will not have any storms. That if God is really with us, we would be happy. If God were really with us, everything would go smoothly. If God were really on our side, we wouldn’t have any family problems. How could God be with me and my house is in foreclosure? How could God be with me and I have cancer.

I looked to my left and I looked to my right and I didn’t see you God. You said you had my back. But you cannot see in a storm that’s why God says walk by faith not by sight. Don’t look for God to be essential in your storm. God doesn’t always make sense during your storm. God won’t make you comfortable in your storm. Just because you’re in a storm, does not negate the presence of God, nor the absence of God.

Your dreams are worth it. There are things in your life that are meant to destroy you. You can be doing all the right things and still face difficult times. Remember that you’re a fighter. Keep fighting through the storm. Don’t allow a hidden storm destroy your dreams, goals and destination. Stay in the game and reach your destination. Remember, you’re never down and out, each day you’re given another opportunity to be GREAT.
