2020 is the year many of us will begin new projects, and or new businesses. We will embark on new journeys and adventures.
Let me show you how vital building a proper team is. When you read the 4 Gospels of the Bible it talks more about how Jesus picked his team (The Apostles) than what they did.
It is important that I help you to understand that the people that will be, and are a part of your team fall into one of these three categories. (Confidants, Constituents, or Comrades)
#1 Confidants:
These are the 3-5 people in your life you can share anything with. These are the ones you are most comfortable with and can be yourself around them. The reason you will be lucky if you have 2-3 in your lifetime is because these are the people you highly favor and trust.
When you look at Jesus’ team, the Apostles there were 12 but only 3 that you would say were Jesus’ inner circle, Confidants (Peter, James, & John).
A leader always needs a Confidant they can talk openly and honest about any situation with. When your stressed out and want to vent, these are the chosen few you turn to. Your road dawgs. The ones that see you, for you and understand you. There with you in good times and bad. They know things about you, your afraid others will find out but there still with you.
Remember this, you never get tired of your confidants because you never need to change whom you are in there presence. Your confidants are there because they care about YOU. They feed off of being around your energy and being kept in your inner loop.
#2 Constituents:
These people only care about the cause, the mission, the task at hand. If your not careful you will mistake them for a confidant but the truth is they don’t care about you, they are in it for the cause. They are attracted to the mission, the task at hand.
Remember this, although they may show signs of a confidant don’t let it fool you because they will leap from your team to another’s if being on another’s team will get them closer to completing the mission or task at hand. And if your not careful, they could leave you heart broken because you thought they loved you when all the time, they only loved the cause, mission, task at hand.
The main difference between the Confidant and Constituent are motives. They both do the same but for different reasons. Both will be by your side, in it, to win it. Both trying to encourage you and fighting the good fight but the confidant will be with you when the cause falters or if someone offers them a better alternative without you.
Since everyone on your team can’t be a confidant, you must have constituents also and be ok knowing these are people that come and go. This is why it’s important to realize some people enter your life for a season and a reason, to get you to the next stage of your journey or purpose.
Love them when they enter your life and love them when they leave. If you can handle that, then your ready for the next phase of your life. Your considered a 360 degree thinker.
To be a good leader, you must love people when they come and go otherwise you will become bitter and cynical and will become hampered and it will tear away at what made you a good leader. Understanding this will prevent you from having a personal attitude in a professional atmosphere.
#3 Comrades:
These are people in the fight with you. But they are not fighting for YOU or YOUR CAUSE, they are there because of a common foe or objective.
Remember this, the Pharisees and the Sadducees didn’t like each other but when Jesus came along they stood together because Jesus was there common adversary.
Going into 2020 and beyond, no matter what business or endeavor you decide to do, your going to have a mixture of the three so please keep this in mind as God leads you to whatever objective he has plan for you this year and the years to come.
