Don’t Deviate.
Don’t Procrastinate.
Don’t get Frustrated.
All you have to do to win this battle is stay on track. Easier said than done, right? There are moments in our life that will try the human soul so violently and perplexing that all of us have had a moment that we just want to walk away.
Discouragement can creep in secretly. Hide behind clothes; make up, hair dos. It will even hide behind a smile. It will ride to work with you and sometimes catch a ride home with you.
The façade of a smile and a good morning and a praise the Lord, you will wonder if you’re ever going to get out of what you’re into.
I’m here to tell you, don’t make permanent decisions based on a temporary problem or circumstance.
Psalm 37:23
Don’t let a moment of agony let you draw a conclusion about life prematurely. If you just keep walking with God, He will make it all right. But He warns us that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. In this case “STEPS” is the Process. That means you just can’t get to the destination just because you want it, just because you saw it, just because you need it. We are often tormented by vision. Being a visionary is tormenting because most don’t see what we see. A visionary sees what shall be and wakes up to deal with what is. Sometimes a visionary cries out on the inside and ask God not to show me what shall be because every time I shout and dance for what you showed me, I go home to a harsh and painful, dark and bleak reality and the fact that I’m torn between WHAT IS and WHAT SHALL BE in my life. Hope deferred makes the heartsick.
We are many times tormented by what shall be and want to hasten the process to get to an expected end. But you cannot rush the process because a blessing given too soon, is not a blessing at all. You could give your child the car keys now and tell him to go to the store to get milk. But if you gave that same person the keys at 5 years old, it would not have been a blessing at all. Because the 5 year old is not ready and can’t handle it.
The story of the Prodigal Son is an example of this. A person getting there blessings too soon before they are ready to handle the responsibilities that come with the blessing.
This is why we should always pray and ask God not to give us more than we can handle. You know when and how to bless me. You know when I’m ready to be blessed. Teach me patience with the process.
We need to be thankful to know God orders the steps. That we are not wandering aimlessly. We’re not just moving on our own but there is a course to take and that we can’t graduate until we take it. We pray to speed up the process, we pray to abort the process, we pray to get out of things he wanted us to stay in. We are always working on the destination while God is working on us and sometimes he makes us wait because if we get it too soon, we will trip on the steps. It’s our sickness that causes us to appreciate our wellness. It’s our poverty that helps us appreciate our prosperity. You don’t know good health until you’re sick. You don’t know prosperity until you can’t pay your bills, or your struggling for your next meal. For many of us it is not until we have reached those depths that we realize how thankful we are that God didn’t forsake us.
We must always give thanks for where we are in our life. We may not all be where we want to be but we’re glad we’re not where we used to be.
As we begin our journey into 2020 and forward I want you to remember this “Be determined and PRESS FORWARD!” Press over rejection. Press over depression. Press over fear. Press over loneliness. When the devil thinks he’s got you, you just PRESS. Everyday you get up in the morning, get in your car don’t worry about what they say; Press Forward.
In the baseball movie A League of Their Own one of the famous quotes from the movie is their’s no crying in baseball. Well I’m here to tell you stop crying about the hand you were dealt because it’s not about the hand, many times it’s about the river card. (Poker players know what I’m talking about). The devil wants you to cry and give up but I’m here to tell you to PRESS FORWARD.
Remember: Don’t Rush The Process.
