The author of The book of Hebrews is making an analysis between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. God doesn’t take us backwards. When he introduces anything to us it is for the better. Hebrews 4:15 it says
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
God doesn’t take us backwards. He takes us from Faith to Faith and Glory to Glory. When someone or something is removed from our life the enemy will make you think your life is in a decline. That is not possible if you serve the LORD because he is ever increasing brighter. So when God removes someone or something, it is because he is making room for something or someone better. The Old Testament, the Old Covenant, the High Priest could not be touched. I compare this with Religion and Relationship. Religion is very cold, dutiful and sterile. Relationship is very warm, compassionate and intimate. Paul is warning us not to get caught up in religious Dogma and systems but to go into the richer meaning of which religion existed in the first place and that is relationship.
In the Book of Galatians, Paul tells us the LAW is the schoolmaster bringing us into grace. This is how God preferences grace through Old Testament Law. And in the Old Testament law there were all kinds of rituals and laws and one of them was that The High Priest Could Not Be Touched. Religion is similar. Has a way of making people back away and not draw near. Has a tendency to be untouchable. It has a tendency to separate and divide. Dogma’s and ideologies because we love our principles more than we love people. I know some that love animals more than people.
But God did not so love the world so he could save PRINCIPLES! He so LOVED the world to SAVE PEOPLE.
So if you wonder what God loves the most, it’s your friends, your family, your neighbor, the person standing in front of you at the checkout counter, the Buddhist, the Muslim and the Hindu’s too. God paid the Ultimate Price by dying for our sins. DON’T LET ANY DEVIL TELL YOU OTHERWISE!!!
Your salvation is not based on your intellect, your financial status, your color, your mistakes or what you did or where you were born. NONE of THAT! If you think so that is the enemy trying to mislead you. DON’T EVER DOUBT YOUR VALUE! If you were not valuable, Jesus would not have died for you.
